Another great day’s peddling yesterday as the 24 hour sponsored ride ploughs on.
Highlights of the day where Claire Smith’s “peddle in the park” with 3.72 miles in half an hour (STOP PRESS apparently Claire was filling in for a late starter and was only spinning for 15 minutes), a second hour long blast from Emma Meredith who’s total mileage is now a whisker short of 40 miles and Flick “I’ll do another session on that bike” Clack clicking up her 32nd mile.
Controversy surrounded Steve Herbert aged 22 as he drove himself to overhaul 50 year old, Martin Blain’s half hour record total of 12.61 miles. Did Steve use his warm down time to register those extra yards that took him past Martin and to clock up the current half hour distance record of 13.08? We may never know.
Steve’s total distance of 36.82 miles is some way short of superfit Emma’s total, will he be back on the bike today to ensure he comes out as top performer or has Emma got the distance prize in the bag?
Simon Ede 9.99
Martin Blain 12.61
Steve Herbert 13.08
Felicity Clack 9.30
Hayley Gibson (hour) 7.44
Claire Smith 6.82
Kat Smith 7.13
Emma Meredith (hour) 19.99
Katie Galagher 4.84
Sian Eddy 8.18
Danielle Parker 6.20
Claire Smith 3.72
Dan Hobson 10.85
Felicity Clack 5.02
Total 125.16

Erm…can I just point out that my “peddle in the park” was only for 15 minutes to fill in until Dan took over, so I think almost 15 mph is more than acceptable.
An apology please Mr Blain
Claire,
Ooops. Sorrry Claire. I blame the record keepers.
Martin
xx
All controversy will be wiped and integrity will be restored to its normal level when I get back on the bike, an event of course to which you are all cordially invited.
To those who question my integrity, I remind them that all miles gained through delivering the bike have not been counted.
It’s all in a good cause – which cause however I will leave you to decide.
